Session
Sessions help facilitate the functionality of certain game modes in a class. Normally you can play single player Assisted learning and Practice mode without a session, but for multiplayer functionality and to record statistics on the users performance in Assessment mode, users must be in a session.
Do I need a session?
Single User | Multiplayer | |
---|---|---|
Assisted Learning | ❌ No | ✅ Yes |
Practice | ❌ No | ✅ Yes |
Assessment | ✅ Yes | N/A |
Assessments are always performed in single user mode
Single player Assessment Session
As mentioned before, sessions only need to be made in single player if you want to allow the functionality of an Assessment, this is so the analytics of the assessment can be recorded.
Game Mode: The game mode for this session
Session name: the name of the session as it will appear in the portal.
Session date: When the session will start.
Session expires: When the session will end.
Scenario: The scenario for this session
Module: the module for this session. Note in assessment only one module at a time can be chosen.
Invite a user: The users who will be able to join this session.
Multi User Session
As previously mentioned to enable multiplayer for Assisted learning and Practice mode, a session must be created. The session helps users be placed in the correct room together. One key difference to note here is that for Assisted Learning and Practice you can choose to play multiple modules at a time.
Viewing a Session
Back on the classes page when you view an individual class it will show you all the sessions in that class. Lets take a look at what a session looks like in a class.
Viewing the session shows you plenty of information relating to that session. You can see what scenario and modules the users are playing. Comments are recorded when a user starts and stops a session but more can be added manually, this can be useful to highlight any specific events in a session such as a user performing a task with ease or with difficulty.
